26 Games Like Stardew Valley: Find Your New Cozy Farming Game

If you’re on the lookout for a fun adventure outside of Pelican Town but still want to enjoy that cozy farm vibe, you’re in luck – there are now more games like Stardew Valley than ever before!

Since its release in 2016, Stardew Valley has revitalized the farming simulation genre, drawing inspiration from the Harvest Moon series.

Nowadays, there are many cute indie games that introduce new ideas and twists, offering a fresh yet familiar gaming experience.

So if you’re like me and always looking for a new cozy farming game, here are some games to scratch that Stardew Valley itch!

1. Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons

Before Stardew Valley, there was Harvest Moon! I had to mention this series of games first because Stardew Valley is heavily inspired by it and so features many similarities.

The Harvest Moon series has since transformed into Story of Seasons, and there are plenty of titles to choose from. You’ll find a lot of familiar mechanics, such as farming, foraging, and building relationships with villagers.

2. Rune Factory Series

The Rune Factory games are similar to Stardew Valley but with a fantasy twist.

One of the major differences is that the Rune Factory games focus much more on combat. In between farming and getting to know the various NPCs, there are story-driven quests that involve battling various creatures.

So, if you want Stardew Valley but with a little more adventure, then the Rune Factory series is a great place to start.

3. My Time at Portia

My Time at Portia blends farming and crafting with a post-apocalyptic world.

As you rebuild Portia, you’ll learn about the world’s intriguing history and get to know the quirky residents that form the growing town.

There is more emphasis on crafting and building than farming, but it still ticks a lot of Stardew Valley boxes.

4. Wylde Flowers

Wylde Flowers is a witchy take on the cozy farming genre.

You play Tara as she restores her grandmother’s rundown farm, complete with crops and barn animals.

Wylde Flowers is ideal if you’re looking for a story-based farming sim. However, if you enjoy customizing and decorating your farm, then you might find it disappointing, as there is very little customization.

5. Fae Farm

As the name suggests, this is another farming game with a fantasy spin.

In addition to traditional farming and crafting, players can try their hand at potion making and tame magical animals.

While Fae Farm has mixed reviews within the cozy gaming community, it includes many features familiar to fans of Stardew Valley, such as foraging, crafting, and mining.

6. Garden Paws

Garden Paws is a cozy game that blends farming with shopkeeping, allowing you to sell your produce and goods.

In the game, you will harvest crops, explore mines, and complete quests to help expand both your home and the nearby town.

While it has a different feel compared to Stardew Valley, it has many similar aspects for those looking for a new farming-type game.

7. Fields of Mistria

Fields of Misteria is a bit like Stardew Valley but with a distinct fantasy and anime style.

It has everything you want in a farming sim game, including raising barn animals, foraging, and crafting.

This game really stands out with its characters and dialogue. If you enjoy interacting with the villagers in Stardew Valley, you’ll likely love getting to know the residents of Misteria.

8. Spiritfarer

Spiritfarer is a heartfelt game in which you play as Stella, the ferrymaster for the dead.

While very different from Stardew Valley, the game shares some similarities, such as farming, fishing, and crafting as you upgrade your boat.

Instead of getting to know your fellow villagers, you will connect with various spirits before guiding them to the afterlife.

9. Sun Haven

Sun Haven is another game that adds a magical twist to the farming genre, featuring enchanted crops and mystical monsters.

It has a lot of familiar elements for fans of Stardew Valley, such as building relationships, completing quests, and, of course, growing your farm.

Sun Haven is a great choice if you’re looking for a Stardew-type game set in a fantasy world (complete with dragons!) and with deeper RPG elements.

10. Graveyard Keeper

Graveyard Keeper puts a dark comedy spin on management simulation by casting you as a medieval cemetery manager.

Instead of tending crops, you’ll prepare bodies, maintain graves, and manage a church – all while trying to cut costs and maximize profits in funny and somewhat questionable ways.

The game shares familiar elements with Stardew Valley, like crafting items, resource management, and completing quests for quirky townspeople.

11. Traveller’s Rest

If you fancy something different than running a farm, why not have a go at managing your own tavern?

In addition to farming and foraging, you can brew drinks, cook food, and serve it to your waiting customers.

The game is still in early access, and there isn’t much of a story or quest line, but you do get to hit annoying customers with a broom.

12. Coral Island

If you love Stardew Valley, Coral Island brings that familiar farming gameplay to a more tropical environment.

This farming sim adds an eco-friendly element, letting you restore coral reefs and complete marine conservation tasks.

It has everything you want in a Stardew-esque game, including a range of quirky characters, some of which are romanceable!

13. Everafter Falls

Stardew Valley inspired Everafter Falls, and so it features a lot of similarities in its farming, crafting, and inventory systems.

While it has the same gameplay loop, Everafter Falls focuses more on storytelling than Stardew Valley does, so it has more of a beginning and an end.

However, the game does not include romance options, which may be a drawback if you enjoy that aspect of Stardew Valley.

14. Everdream Valley

Everdream Valley features the typical farming mechanics you’d expect to find in a game like Stardew Valley but also features multiple mini-games if that’s your thing.

In this game, you play as a child spending the summer at your grandparents’ house, taking on various chores rather than building your own farm.

However, one thing to note is that many players have encountered quite a few bugs throughout the game, so it’s worth keeping that in mind.

15. Littlewood

Littlewood is more like a Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing crossover.

It’s more relaxed than Stardew Valley, with less emphasis on farming and a greater focus on building and customizing your town.

So if you want Stardew Valley pixel art but Animal Crossing town design, Littlewood could be the perfect game for you!

16. One Lonely Outpost

If you’ve ever wanted to grow a farm and colony on an alien planet, then look no further than One Lonely Outpost.

This is another game still in early access, and it can feel quite clunky at times.

However, it draws heavy inspiration from Stardew Valley, and it has potential, so it’s worth keeping an eye on.

17. Roots of Pacha

Stardew Valley, but make it prehistoric!

Roots of Pacha has everything you want in a farming sim, but it has a fresh perspective with different animals and a Stone Age setting.

It also has more of a community feel as you work with your tribe to improve your settlement and enhance the well-being of everyone rather than just focusing on your own farm.

18. Kynseed

Kynseed features farming, crafting, and a strong emphasis on building relationships.

This is because your character ages over time and will eventually pass away, leaving their children to take over.

The relationships in Kynseed can be either positive or negative, depending on how you interact with various characters, and so this also adds a new element to gameplay.

19. Slime Rancher

Slime Rancher is a farming game with a difference. Instead of raising chickens and cows, you farm Slimes!

You can design your ranch for maximum profits and earn Newbucks for upgrades.

While it may not have the same depth as Stardew Valley, it’s a good option if you’re looking for a simpler gaming experience.

20. Kitaria Fables

The farming aspect of Kitaria Fables is minimal; it basically just involves planting a few crops.

Instead, the game is more combat-based, so if mining in Stardew is your thing, then Kitaria Fables might be too.

However, the main storyline is relatively short, so it won’t provide the same number of hours of gameplay as Stardew Valley.

21. Moonstone Island

Moonstone Island is what happens when you cross Stardew Valley with Pokemon.

While farming is a part of the game, it is not the main focus, and you can choose to ignore it altogether if you prefer.

The game centers more on collecting spirits, engaging in combat, and exploring the environment.

22. Bloomtown: A Different Story

Bloomtown: A Different Story does have farming aspects, but this is another game where it’s not the central focus.

Bloomtown is a story-driven JRPG with turn-based combat set in 1960s America.

It has a Stranger Things vibe as you work to solve the mystery of disappearing children.

23. Dinkum

Dinkum is another game that combines elements of both Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing.

Like Animal Crossing, you can get creative designing your town, catch bugs, and donate to the museum.

You can also plant crops, raise farm animals, and make friends with the locals.

24. Disney Dreamlight Valley

Disney Dreamlight Valley has become one of my favorite cozy games!

It features elements similar to Stardew Valley, such as farming, mining, fishing, and foraging. You can also get super creative by designing your house and the entire valley.

Unlike Stardew Valley, Dreamlight Valley includes in-game purchases and limited-time events where players can unlock furniture, clothing, and other items.

25. Palia

Palia shares some similarities with Stardew Valley, including farming, crafting, and fishing.

However, it is a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, which allows you to interact with other players online.

Plus, it’s free to play! So, if you’re curious, you have nothing to lose by trying it out.

26. Staxel

Staxel is a blend of Stardew Valley and Minecraft.

In the game, you can plant crops, take care of farm animals, and expand both your farm and the surrounding village.

Just a word of warning: there will be no more updates for the game, so if there’s anything you find frustrating or buggy, it won’t be fixed.

So what do you think? Are there any other games like Stardew Valley that should be added to the list? Let me know in the comments below!
