The Sims Disney Princess Legacy Challenge: Rules and Tips

The Disney Princess legacy challenge is a fun challenge where each generation is inspired by a different Disney princess!

Originally created in 2014 for The Sims 3 by a user named MissPlaying on The Sims forums, the challenge was later updated for The Sims 4.

Since the Sims forum has been closed and replaced with the EA forums, I have combined the challenges here so you can play the original version of this challenge.

I have included the rules for both The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 and added a few of my own ideas!

Generation 1: Snow White

“I’m wishing for the one I love to find me today”

A sim styled as Snow White for the Sims 4 Disney Princess Legacy Challenge.

Rules

  • Children: Must have seven children. Each child must possess a negative trait, and no children can share a trait. All children must have the same father.
  • Romance: Can marry once her seventh child has aged up into a teenager.
  • Snow should not answer the door to strangers or talk to elderly women.
  • Optional: Start the legacy with Snow as a teenager with an evil stepmother.
  • Children: Each child must achieve one of the following before ageing into a teenager: reach level five in a toddler skill, reach level three in every toddler skill, complete their childhood aspiration, or become an A-grade student.
  • Parenthood Expansion Pack: Each child must age up with at least one positive character trait.

My Tips & Ideas

  • Give each of your children a trait relating to the seven dwarfs: Hot-headed (Grumpy), cheerful (Happy), self-assured (Doc), lazy (Sleepy), romantic (Bashful), neat (Sneezy) and clumsy (Dopey).
  • Snow White should not eat anything containing apples.

Generation 2: Cinderella

“A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you’re fast asleep”

A sim styled as Cinderella, stood in a kitchen, for the Sims 4 Disney Princess Legacy Challenge.
  • Traits: Neat and natural cook.
  • Skills: Reach level 8 cooking before becoming a young adult.
  • Romance: She cannot marry until her mother passes away. Her death does not have to be due to old age, but cheats cannot be used.
  • Children: A maximum of three children.
  • She should clean the house daily and prepare every meal.
  • Traits: Neat and foodie.

My Tips & Ideas

  • Have her mother, Snow White, die from poisoning by eating poor-quality Puffer Fish Nigiri (City Living expansion pack).
  • Meet her partner at a party, and leave before it ends.

Generation 3: Tiana

“The only way to get what you want in this world is through hard work”

  • Traits: Workaholic and/or ambitious.
  • Romance: Marry a Sim with a green feature, such as hair, eyes, skin, or wings.
  • Work: Achieve the top of their career and should not retire.
  • Father dies before the end of young adulthood.
  • The Sims 3: Pets: Own a minor pet.
  • Aspiration: Food.
  • Dine Out Expansion Pack: Own and run a restaurant.

My Tips & Ideas

  • The perfectionist and creative traits will help with cooking and running a restaurant.
  • She can also be given the foodie trait.
  • If you don’t have the Dine Out pack, give Tiana a culinary career.

Generation 3: Aurora

“I walked with you once upon a dream”

A sim styled as Aurora from Sleeping Beauty for the Sims 4 Disney Princess Legacy Challenge.
  • Traits: Heavy sleeper.
  • Romance: Meet future spouse at night while her parents are sleeping. Aurora must also run away to have a private wedding.
  • Children: Have two children, preferably twin girls. Twins may be adopted, or watermelons can be used.
  • Should only have three friends with BFF status.
  • Traits: Lazy.
  • Children: A max of two. Twin girls still preferred.
  • Have three or fewer friends – family may count.

My Tips & Ideas

  • In The Sims 4, the best way to get twins is to eat a honey cake (Seasons).
  • Other ways of increasing the chances of twins are: the fertile reward trait, a fertility massage (Spa Day pack), Ley Line lots (City Living pack), a wishing well (Romantic Garden stuff) and the Elixir of Fertility (Outdoor Retreat).
  • To increase your chances of having girls eat strawberries and listen to pop music.

Generation 5: Elsa

“Yes, I’m alone, but I’m alone and free”

A sim styled as Elsa from Frozen for the Sims 4 Disney Princess Legacy Challenge.

The Elsa generation requires The Sims 3: Supernatural expansion pack. If you don’t have this pack, play generation 5.5 instead.

  • Traits: Loves the cold.
  • Romance: Does not marry.
  • Children: One child, an accidental pregnancy.
  • Be a witch.
  • Run away as a teenager. You can have her sister locate her to bring her home.

The Sims 4 version of this challenge has Elsa as an optional generation. Instead, generation 5 is based on Anna.

If you’re playing Elsa as an optional generation in The Sims 4, the additions are:

  • Traits: Loner
  • Doesn’t talk to her sister until she ages into a young adult.
  • She should be different from other Sims in some way.

My Tips & Ideas

  • If you have the Seasons pack, give her the Iceproof reward trait, as the cold never bothered her anyway!
  • If you have the Realm of Magic pack, make Elsa a spellcaster and have the spellcraft & sorcery aspiration, and try to complete it.

Generation 5.5: Anna

“We only have each other, it’s just you and me”

A Sims 4 version of Anna, Frozen.
  • Lose contact with her sister until she ages into a young adult.
  • Romance: Fall in love with a criminal and experience near-death at their hands. After attaining a BFF relationship with her sister, Anna should fall in love with someone new and get married.
  • Children: One child.

No additions for The Sims 4.

My Tips & Ideas

  • Give Anna the goofball trait.
  • Have the soulmate aspiration and try to complete it.
  • After she gets married, she adopts a dog or a horse called Sven.

Generation 6: Rapunzel

A Rapunzel sim showing peace signs for the Disney Princess legacy challenge.
  • Traits: Loner and artistic.
  • Skills: Reach level 8 in painting before young adulthood.
  • Romance: Have a private wedding as she has no friends.
  • Can only leave the house to attend school.
  • After Rapunzel gets married, she may make friends and be more social.
  • Traits: Loner and art lover.
  • Romance: Elope and have children.
  • Parenthood Expansion Pack: Has strict parents, but is often distanced from her family and will sneak out past her curfew.

My Tips & Ideas

  • Other traits that fit Rapunzel are cheerful and creative.
  • Have the Painter Extraordinaire aspiration and aim to complete it.
  • Have a minor pet called Pascal.
  • Have plenty of frying pans in your kitchen!

Generation 7: Belle

“People think I’m odd, so I know how it feels to be different”

Belle, Beauty and the Beast, as a sim for the princess legacy challenge.
  • Traits: Bookworm.
  • Romance: Date at least five men before you meet the man you will marry. This Sim must be a werewolf, or an ugly Sim (if you don’t have a werewolf pack). Once Belle is married and has had her first child, her husband becomes “beautiful”. You can do this by editing them in CAS or by curing the werewolf.
  • Get to Work Expansion Pack: Belle’s spouse is an alien.

My Tips & Ideas

  • Have the loner trait.
  • Do well in school – an A student.
  • Complete the engineering career.
  • Make a library in her house.
  • Have the nerd brain aspiration and try to complete it.

Generation 8: Ariel / Mulan

“Someday I’ll be part of your world”

A Sims 4 Ariel for the Princess Legacy Challenge.
  • Traits: Sailor and loves the water.
  • Romance: Marry a beautiful Sim that shares at least one trait with Ariel.
  • Children: Have children – no requirements.
  • Have a swimming pool and swim in it daily.

In The Sims 4 version of the Sims Disney Princess legacy challenge, Ariel is replaced with Mulan. See Generation 10.5 for Mulan’s generation rules.

Instead, Ariel is an optional generation. Here are the additions for The Sims 4 if you’re playing the Ariel generation.

  • Traits: Loves the Outdoors.
  • Island Living Expansion Pack: Be a mermaid. Can adapt the rules to fit the pack.

My Tips & Ideas

  • Max the singing skill.

  • Have a pet named Flounder.

Generation 9: Jasmine

“A whole new world, a hundred thousand things to see”

Jasmine, Aladdin sim for the Disney Princess Challenge.
  • Romance: Marry a poor Sim in a criminal career.
  • Children: Have four children – one of one gender, three of the other.
  • Cannot leave the house except for school.
  • Pets Expansion Pack: Own a ginger cat named Raja.
  • The Sims 3: World Adventures: Max a visa.
  • Children: A max of four.
  • Have a best friend (Raja).
  • Cats and Dogs Expansion pack: Raja must be a pet and must be a companion while Jasmine is still a child.

My Tips & Ideas

  • If you have the Cats & Dogs pack, have a dog or cat that resembles a tiger.
  • Have the self-assured trait.

Generation 10: Merida

“If you had the chance to change your fate, would you?”

Merida, Brave as a Sim with red hair .

This generation has a sad ending to the Disney Princess legacy challenge, so if you would prefer a happier ending, you can play the Mulan generation below this one instead.

  • Traits: Adventurous and/or athletic.
  • Romance: Merida does not believe in finding love and so never marries.
  • Children: None, as she believes she is cursed.
  • Lose siblings and mother in an accident.
  • Seek a way to change the past but fail.
  • Grow up alone with feelings of regret.
  • Traits: Self-Assured
  • If you wish to continue the challenge with the optional generations, Merida may marry and have children.

My Tips & Ideas

  • Have the unflirty trait.
  • Have a dog (or three) which look like a bear.
  • In CAS, under the sexual orientation tab, change the settings so Merida is attracted to neither.

Generation 10.5: Mulan

“Could it be, that if I were truly to be myself, I would break my family’s heart”

Mulan Sim, with green and yellow top in a casual pose.
  • Traits: Athletic
  • Career: Military
