Planet Zoo Wetlands: Complete List of All Animal Colour Variants

The Planet Zoo Wetlands Animal Pack adds eight new animals to your zoo, all of which love to make their homes where water and land come together!

There are seven new habitat animals to discover in this pack, from playful Asian small-clawed otters and the one-of-a-kind platypus to capybaras, Nile lechwes, red-crowned cranes, spectacled caimans and wild water buffalo.

This DLC also has a new exhibit animal, the Danube crested newt.

Altogether, these eight new animals come with twenty-six different colourmorphs to collect.

Here’s a complete list of all the animals and their colourmorphs you can find in the Wetlands Animal Pack!

Asian Small-Clawed Otter

Asian small-clawed otters are the smallest otters in the world, and you’ll find them in wetlands all across South and Southeast Asia, from India all the way to the Philippines.

These cute little otters actually have two layers of fur. Their oily, brown outer fur acts as a waterproof coat, while their dense under-fur keeps them warm and dry, even underwater.

In Planet Zoo, you’ll find these semi-aquatic animals in three slightly different shades of brown. There’s also a chance of breeding an albino Asian small-clawed otter!

Total colour morphs: 4

Colours are listed as:

  • Brown dense fur and white throat
  • Pale brown dense fur and white throat
  • Red-brown dense fur and white throat
  • Albino: White dense fur

Capybara

Capybaras are the largest rodents in the world, and they’re perfectly suited to life in the wetlands!

They have partially webbed feet, and their eyes, ears, and nostrils sit high on their heads, making it easy for them to submerge in the water. Their brown fur is long and bristly, so it dries quickly once they’re back on land.

In Planet Zoo, these South American animals come in three different shades of brown, and there’s a white albino too.

Total colour morphs: 4

Colours are listed as:

  • Golden coarse fur
  • Tan coarse fur
  • Sandy coarse fur
  • Albino: White coarse fur

Nile Lechwe

The Nile lechwe is an endangered antelope that lives in the wetlands of Sudan and Ethiopia, primarily in the Sudd, Africa’s largest wetland and the second biggest in the world.

These antelopes are perfectly suited to life in the wetlands. Their oily fur repels water so they can swim easily, and their long, wide hooves let them walk across muddy ground without sinking.

Male and female Nile lechwe look quite different from each other. In Planet Zoo, the males have brown coats in three different shades, while the females come in three lighter tan colours.

There are no rare colours for the Nile lechwe.

Total colour morphs: 6

Colours are listed as:

Male

  • Brown shaggy fur with white markings
  • Dark brown shaggy fur with white markings
  • Brown-black shaggy fur with white markings

Female

  • Tan shaggy fur
  • Dark tan shaggy fur
  • Pale tan shaggy fur

Platypus

Not only is the platypus unusual as a mammal that lays eggs, but it’s also one of the few venomous mammals, with special spurs on its hind feet.

These semi-aquatic creatures are native to eastern Australia and Tasmania, and they have another surprising feature – their fur is biofluorescent! Under ultraviolet light, platypuses actually glow a bright blue-green.

Platypus in Planet Zoo come in three different shades of brown, with no rare colours.

Total colour morphs: 3

Colours are listed as:

  • Red-brown fur and pale sides
  • Grey-brown fur and pale sides
  • Brown fur and pale sides

Red-Crowned Crane

The red-crowned crane is one of the rarest cranes in the world!

You will find these iconic birds in Russia, China, Mongolia, and Japan, where they are seen as symbols of longevity and immortality.

Red-crowned cranes are perfectly adapted to wetlands and feed in deeper water than other cranes.

The red-crowned crane has only a single colourmorph. It has snow-white feathers, a black face and neck, and a bright red patch on top of its head that gives it its name.

Total colour morphs: 1

Colour is listed as:

  • White plumage, black wings and neck

Spectacled Caiman

The spectacled caiman is a freshwater crocodilian found throughout Central and South America. Its name comes from the bony ridge between its eyes, which resembles a pair of spectacles.

The spectacled camen actually changes colour with the seasons! When the weather gets colder, the black pigment in its skin spreads out, making the caiman look much darker.

In Planet Zoo, these reptiles come in three shades of green, with no rare colours.

Total colour morphs: 3

Colours are listed as:

  • Green and white scaled skin
  • Olive green and white scaled skin
  • Dark green and white scaled skin

Wild Water Buffalo

Wild water buffalo can be found in the wetlands of Southeast Asia, where their wide, splayed hooves help them walk easily through the muddy ground without getting stuck.

If food is hard to find, they will even dive underwater to eat the plants growing at the bottom of lakes and rivers.

Bull water buffalo can get pretty big, with the largest weighing up to 2,650 pounds and standing around 6 feet tall—not even counting their horns!

In Planet Zoo, water buffaloes come in three different shades of grey, along with a rare albino white variant.

Total colour morphs: 4

Colours are listed as:

  • Grey coat
  • Grey-brown coat
  • Grey-black coat
  • Albino: White coat

Danube Crested Newt

The Danube crested newt is the smallest member of the crested newt family, and you’ll find it living in the slow-moving waters and woodlands along the Danube River.

In Planet Zoo, exhibit animals don’t have listed colours, but Danube crested newts are a mix of black and brown, with white and black speckles, and bright orange bellies and feet.
