Butterflies
The Grasslands pack includes not one, but five exhibit animals!
They are all different types of butterflies, making them perfect for building colourful butterfly houses in your zoo.
Exhibit animals in Planet Zoo are not assigned colours, but one butterfly does have an albino variation!
Cloudless Sulphur
The Cloudless Sulphur butterfly is a bright yellow species commonly found throughout the Americas.
The genus name Phoebis comes from the Greek word “phoibos,” which means “bright” or “shining,” a perfect fit for these butterflies with their bright yellow colour!

European Peacock
This bright and beautiful butterfly lives in the grasslands of Europe and Asia. Its large eyespots help scare away predators!
In Planet Zoo, you can see their striking red wings decorated with bold black and blue spots.

Menelaus Blue Morpho
Blue morpho butterflies live in the grasslands of Central and South America. They are among the largest butterflies in the world, but their lifespan is only about 115 days.
Their bright, shimmering blue colour is actually down to tiny scales on their wings that scatter light, reflecting only the blue shades you see!

Monarch
These poisonous butterflies are international travellers, as millions of them leave Canada and the U.S. every year to fly nearly 2,500 miles south, always returning to the same forests.
The monarch butterfly exhibits a vibrant orange colour, but there is also an albino variation.

Old World Swallowtail
These butterflies get their name from the shape of their hindwings, which look a lot like the tails of swallows!
The Old World Swallowtail features its striking yellow wings decorated with black and blue markings and red eyespots.
