Planet Zoo Tropical Pack: A Complete List of Animals & Colours
The Planet Zoo Tropical Pack brings five new animals to your zoo, each one perfectly suited to life in a tropical habitat.
Tropical forests might only cover 6% of the world’s land, but they are some of the most biodiverse places on the planet!
This pack introduces four new habitat animals that you can find there, including Asian water monitors, fossas, lar gibbons, and red river hogs.
You’ll also find a very special exhibit animal in this pack, the brown-throated sloth!
There are 22 colourmorphs to find, most of which come from the colourful lar gibbon, which has 10 colours.
Here’s a complete list of all the animals and their colourmorphs you can find in the Planet Zoo Tropical Pack!

Asian Water Monitor
Asian water monitors are the second largest lizards in the world, and you can find them living throughout Southeast Asia.
These semi-aquatic lizards love tropical, humid areas near water and are excellent swimmers. Their tails have raised fins, which help them steer smoothly through the water.
Their bodies are mostly muscle, and their tails are not only useful for swimming but also make a great defence against predators.
Asian water monitors in Planet Zoo have three black colours, with yellow markings. There are also two rare colours, a black melanistic and a white albino.
Total colour morphs: 5

Colours are listed as:
- Grey-black scaled skin with yellow rosettes
- Green-black scaled skin with yellow rosettes
- Dark scaled skin with yellow rosettes
- Albino: White scaled skin with brown rosettes
- Melansitic: Black scaled skin
Fossa
The fossa is found only in Madagascar’s tropical forests, and is the island’s largest carnivore.
As Madagascar’s top predator, it has developed unique skills for moving and hunting in the thick rainforest.
Despite being a relative of the mongoose, the fossa is more like a cat with retractable claws and catlike teeth.
Sadly, the fossa is now considered a vulnerable species, as more than 90% of its forest home has been lost to deforestation.
The fossa in Planet Zoo comes in three different shades of brown, though the differences are subtle. There are no special coats.
Total colour morphs: 3

Colours are listed as:
- Brown smooth fur
- Light brown smooth fur
- Dark brown smooth fur
Lar Gibbon
Lar gibbons live in the rainforests of southern Asia, where they swing through the trees at incredible speeds, sometimes reaching up to 35 miles per hour!
Gibbons are among the most endangered primates in the world. Their forest homes are disappearing quickly, and many are captured from the wild and sold as pets or used in traditional medicine.
Gibbons are also one of the few primates that form monogamous pairs, living together in small, close-knit family groups. In Planet Zoo, you’ll see this reflected with a monogamous mating system, where a dominant pair leads the group.
In Planet Zoo, lar gibbons are especially unique when it comes to their colours, with 10 different colour variations! You’ll find three shades of white, three of light brown, three of dark brown, and a black colour.
Total colour morphs: 10

Colours are listed as:
- White fur, white face and hands
- Blonde fur, white face and hands
- Beige fur, white face and hands
- Red-brown fur, white face and hands
- Grey-brown fur, white face and hands

- Black fur, white face and hands
Red River Hog
Red river hogs are right at home in the swampy parts of Africa’s tropical rainforests.
They get their name from their bright reddish fur and their love of wallowing in rivers and muddy pools.
They have scent glands near their eyes and on their feet, which they use to mark their territory as they explore the forest.
In Planet Zoo, you’ll find red river hogs in three different fur shades, but there aren’t any special coats for them.
Total colour morphs: 3

Colours are listed as:
- Red coat, black and white face
- Yellow coat, black and white face
- Orange coat, black and white face
Brown-throated Sloth
The brown-throated sloth is my favourite exhibit animal! They live in the tropical rainforests and coastal forests of Central and South America.
Sloths are famous for their slow, relaxed movements, and they spend most of their day sleeping, sometimes for up to 15 or even 20 hours!
In Planet Zoo, exhibit animals don’t have listed colours, but sloths appear in a mix of grey and brown. Male sloths also have a bright yellow patch of fur on their backs.
